Stars mainly for atmosphere, waitstaff, and first course. Beautiful inside. Classy--no sign of German decor or waitresses in buxom blouses. It looks like you could spend some money here and we did. We started off with a build your own appetizer plate. We chose fried mushrooms, calamari, and bratwurst. It came with sweet potato waffle fries, garlic and fry-type sauces. The regular bratwurst app came with sauerkraut so I asked if we could get some of that, too. BEST DECISION! The sauerkraut was amazing!!! Nice and warm, not too vinegary, with bacon and fennel seed. YUM. Enjoyed everything so much we wished we'd just gotten an app platter each, but we still had a pork schnitzel each coming. Unfortunately, these were kind of a disappoinment. They were good, but not as great as we'd hoped. It was something about the breading that wasn't quite right. The red cabbage and fried potatoes were nice, but if I came again I'd ask if I could sub for more sauerkraut. My husband didn't like his mushroom sauce, but I thought it was tasty. Unfortunately, I can't do that much dairy so I'd ordered the Weiner schnitzel that just came with a tiny dish of fancy applesauce. It was kind of boring. So, although we left happy and well-fed, if we came again we'd skip the schnitzel.

Best prime rib in Cranbrook!
Have been a regular at Frank's for a few years and they always deliver great food & service. The food is fresh, tasty & great value and the service is always prompt & friendly. -

I tried the chicken schnitzel with spaetzle and mushroom sauce. Not something I'd order again: if not for the red cabbage it would have been inedible. Husband had the chicken club, and while it was good, it wasn't a traditional club sandwich, quite small. But he said it was the best potato wedges he has ever had! Service was fine.

Came in with a friend of mine to do a second tasting of schnitzel. We went to Bernard's in Kimberly and had a very off experience, so we came here to compare and see if there was much of a difference.
My friend had the Seafood schnitzel (much the same as Bernards #2 Mike Weir) and he loved it. But he thought over all Bernards was a bit better and had more on it.
I had the Jauger, and I thought it was excellent. (I had the butter chicken at Bernards and well.... see the review)
All in all I like this place, I can tell its big and family friendly clean and nice staff, good food, and a nice experience.
